- 6 to 9 May
- Hafengeburtstag (Port Anniversary). The biggest harbour festival in the world, with the arrival parade on Thursday, the departure parade on Sunday, the tugboat ballet and fireworks. Best reached by S3 to the Landungsbrücken. On the festival days the trains and the waterfront get very crowded.
- 19 March to 18 April
- Frühlingsdom (spring DOM). Northern Germany's biggest funfair on the Heiligengeistfeld is already on during our season. Take the U3 to St. Pauli or Feldstraße.
- 23 July to 29 August
- Sommerdom (summer DOM). Rides, fish rolls and fireworks on Fridays. Afterwards you head back to the quiet Elbe.
- Late summer
- Cruise Days. The harbour glows blue and cruise ships sail in formation along the Elbe.
- Sundays
- Fischmarkt (fish market). Early in the morning on the Elbe, with market criers, fish, flowers and live music in the Fischauktionshalle.
By bike
Along the dyke and the cycle paths by the Elbe you're at the Landungsbrücken or in the HafenCity in about 45 minutes. Go to the bike rides
By bus and train
Bus 351 outside the gate, then the S-Bahn. You're at Central Station in around 30 minutes. Connections and tips
Culture and nightlife
Musicals at the Landungsbrücken, the Elbphilharmonie Plaza, Miniatur Wunderland, and in the evening the Reeperbahn or the Schanze.
